Wrap up 2014 & forthcoming talks

Presents are wrapped, bags are packed and I’m nearly ready to drive to Pembrokeshire for Christmas with my family. It’s been a brilliant year, I’ve worked with some fantastic people and achieved a few things I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

Highlights of 2014 include:
12 months of 2014Another record-breaking challenge! Beeline Britain made the first ever straight line journey between Land’s End and John O’Groats and set two new sea kayaking records, raised over £20k for Blesma and culminated in the production of the film As The Crow Flies which was voted People’s Choice at the Kendal Mountain Festival.

Awarded a ‘Points of Light’ Award by the Prime Minister in recognition of outstanding volunteering over the last 10 years.

Featured in the ‘Top 35 Under 35’ a list of 35 women making their mark in Wales.

Published articles in Geographical Magazine and Guardian Travel. Depicted as a cartoon image for Student Farmer magazine. Featured as a panelist on BBC Radio Wales with Eleri Sion.

Participated in the BBC’s University Challenge – Alumni Special with Royal Holloway (and Bedford New College) alumni Valerie Vaz MP, Norman Baker MP and Francis Wheen.

Delivered the first DofE Wales ExpedFest, a residential training weekend for expedition leaders and the annual Burn Series multisport events.

Highlights of my speaking engagements include speaking to the GB Women’s Rowing team, addressing Gold DofE Recipients at St James’ Palace, helping to launch the new brand for Inspiring Learning and returning to my old school as guest speaker for Christ College Brecon Prize Day.

Next year I’ll be speaking at the following public events:

21 January 2015 – Royal Scottish Geographical Society Lectures in Edinburgh (2.15pm) and in Glasgow (7.30pm)

5 March 2015 – Crickhowell Walking Festival, Clarence Hall, Crickhowell, 7pm

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of these achievements and events.

Season’s greetings to you all.
